From How to Write a Resume to How to Jump-Start Your Car, Howcast provides the answer to any how-to question and engages consumers to watch and share free, useful how-to videos and guides produced in-house at Howcast Studios, as well as by innovative media partners, trusted brands, and individual contributors.
Howcast distributes this content across a growing network of web, mobile, and cable partners, including such notable destinations as YouTube, MySpace, Hulu, AOL, Yahoo!, Comcast, Apple, TiVo and Verizon
In addition to the Howcast Studios, the Emerging Filmmakers Program offers up-and-coming filmmakers the chance to gain experience, exposure, and extra income by creating short how-to videos. The EFP has partnered with film and television programs at Boston University, Flashpoint Academy, and Charles Sturt University to expose students to web video production.
In just over a year, Howcast been named a top web site of 2008 by both TIME and PC Magazine, profiled in the New York Times Sunday Business Section, nominated for two Webby Awards and has had its iPhone app featured in an Apple iPhone commercial.

Howcast shows how-to videos wherever and whenever you need to watch and learn how to do something. So from www.howcast.com to a deepening presence on over 15 video experiences across the web from MySpace, YouTube, Facebook, Veoh, and beyond to TiVo, iTunes, Verizon FiOS, and Vcast , we have a wealth of opportunities to engage viewers with promotional spots featuring our latest videos, advertising partners, and new ways to watch and learn from Howcast.
We need your help to ensure we keep our promotional experiences as fresh and fun as our videos and website.
You will be responsible for creating and updating a wide range of digital promotional experiences that:
- Introduce our latest videos and features on Howcast.com and partner sites in promotional advertising units
- Showcase Howcast on partner sites and experiences from TiVo to MySpace
- Illustrate Howcast advertising and content partnership opportunities to potential partners
- Assist sales and marketing with fresh, innovated presentation designs
- Create beautiful, eye-catching promotional graphics
- Update and revise existing designs
- Work closely with Howcast's Production, Product Development, and Business Development Teams, as well as key distribution, content, and advertising partners
- Implement designs based on wireframes/prototypes in accordance with a style guide or directions
- Prepare existing designs for implementation, e.g. producing optimized images
- New York City metro area resident with permission to work in the United States
- Minimum of 2-3 years experience designing consumer-oriented websites and/or online advertising
- Comprehensive working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop a must, including: Layer Effects, Layer Comps, Smart Objects, Save for Web (slicing, optimizing, etc.)
- Adobe Illustrator and print experience a plus but not required
- Advanced capabilities in Microsoft office programs
- Cross-browser, cross-platform knowledge of CSS, and XHTML not essential, but preferred
- A strong sense of design, layout /composition, typography, and color
- Ability to produce timely deliverables and manage multiple and shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work independently, with high productivity.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) required.
- Demonstrable strategic thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.
