Role
We’re looking for interns with a passion for filmmaking, an interest in film and video education, experience watching and uploading web videos, knowledge of production and post-production, and an ability to thrive under pressure. Production interns will assist the VP of Production, Director of Production, and the EFP Managing Producer and Associate Producers on all phases of in-house production, provide feedback and support to filmmakers as they complete their videos, and work with the team on special projects as they arise. Depending on their particular interests and skills, interns may focus on our in-house shoots or on working with our filmmakers in the Emerging Filmmakers Program (EFP).Duties may include:
- Setting up shoots, booking equipment and gathering props
- Assisting on set as a PA
- Reviewing videos, and coordinating with Howcast producers to execute revision notes for videos submitted
- Researching and outreach to web video artists, filmmakers, film schools and organizations
- Working with interns from each department to produce one final collaborative Howcast video each semester
- In addition, Howcast offers special projects each semester tailored for interns’ strengths and skills. Projects may include:
- Producing from start to finish a slate of Howcast videos culminating in a company-wide screening
- Producing short promotional, internal or special project videos
- Suggesting and executing partnership, outreach, and growth initiatives
- Devising and writing blog posts and social media campaigns
- Passion for filmmaking; shooting and editing experience; focus on post-production
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; tutoring experience a plus
- Genuine interest and passion for new media and web video and culture
- Keen attention to detail and solid organization skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of: Microsoft Office, Google Docs and Final Cut Pro preferred
