Film School Partnerships

Many of the filmmakers in the Emerging Filmmakers Program are film students, and over the past year, we've begun partnering directly with their schools. Boston University's film department was the first to incorporate the program in their Broadband Television course, and this spring, Flashpoint Academy and Charles Sturt University have assigned Howcast videos to their production students.

Howcast provides students with vetted scripts, prerecorded voice-overs, a graphics package, and royalty-free music tracks, and encourages students to be as creative as possible envisioning how to shoot and edit their spots. From storyboard through post-production, students work with their professors, classmates, and the Howcast team to craft their videos. They refine their production skills as they learn to balance creativity with instructional value and client expectations.

When their videos are submitted for approval, the students receive feedback from Howcast producers -- a team with combined decades of industry experience -- and fine-tune their spots until they're ready to go live on Howcast.com and across Howcast's distribution network.

Every school is different, so we're working with each to tailor the program to their needs, whether it be integrated with a course, offered as an extra-credit activity, or done as a group project. For more information, contact emergingfilmmakers@howcast.com.
