How To Get Started

  1. Pick a topic and download the script, voice-over, graphics, and music tracks.
  2. Get creative. Shoot, edit, and upload your video.*
  3. Work with Howcast producers to create a fine cut and if your video is accepted, watch it go live across our distribution network.
  4. Repeat!

* Before you start shooting, check out our basic camera and editing software requirements.

What's New?

We're introducing a tiered program with higher stipends paid for quality work.

  • Level 1 – Start here with a stipend of $50 for every accepted video you create.
  • Level 2 – Get the hang of Howcast spots. Shoot SD (DV/NTSC) or HD. Commit to five videos a month and earn $75 for every accepted video.
  • Level 3 – Impress us with your creative and technical chops. Shoot HD. Commit to 10 videos a month and earn $100 for every accepted video.
  • Level 4 – Knock our socks off. Shoot HD and be able to meet deadlines. Earn special assignments with rates from $150 to $300 for every accepted video.

Our Howcast videos are our "fun" work. We look forward to shooting them each week because of their creative requirements. It's an opportunity to actually do some filmmaking!
